Health Care

  • With the help of Dr. Amos Otedo, we have already conducted many medical screening events at the former Victory Christian School (VCS) buildingand elsewhere

  • The focus is to screen for diseases such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension, cancers, as well as many communicable diseases like Malaria, Pneumonia, and HIV

  • IKI most recently conducted a screening event serving over 300 patients including 75 children

  • Further screenings will be carried out over 16 sites in the communities of the greater Kisumu and Siaya counties

  • Learn more about our plans to construct a dedicated hospital and better provide quality health care below

The Way Forward

  • Access to health care is very difficult in rural Kenya, with an estimated 30% of people either unable to reach or afford health services

  • Additionally, the doctor to patient ratio in a general outpatient clinic or government hospital is 1 to 19,000 in Kisumu county and 1 to 21,000 in Siaya county

  • Which is why IKI plans to construct a dedicated community hospital to provide quality, affordable healthcare

  • Our initial priorities will be the accommodation of out-patients,  consultation rooms, 50 beds for in patients, X-ray capability, laboratory with blood storage capacity, a surgical theater with 2 operating beds allowing simultaneous surgeries

  • With your help, we can provide quality, affordable health care to those in need

  • Our long term goals include:
    • 200 in patient beds, 3 surgical theaters, C-T and MRI machines, physiotherapy unit, and research laboratory

    • Education of medical students and partnership with US medical schools for tele-medicine

    • Partnerships with local government and the national health care insurance provider (NHIF)
