Victory Christian School of excellence (VCS) was founded in 2009 to provide quality education to students. VCS operates in Kadawa Village, and educates 800+ students while also providing meals for students, including many orphans who would otherwise go unfed.

Expansion

In February 2017, a group of IKI members and volunteers funded and assisted in the construction of three new classrooms and the purchase of desks and books for VCS.

Back to School Drive

In 2023 we raised funds for new shoes for all the school children. Those who did not need shoes got a new backpack. Our team who went to Kenya in February was blessed to be able to fit shoes and backpacks and share in their joy!

Despite the additional classrooms, our student base is rapidly growing, and with your help, we have begun construction on our next building expansion! The construction of the VCS expansion is being done entirely by local small business, infusing capital back into the local economy. Upon completion, the new building will provide updated classrooms and increase our capacity to 800-1000 students. Construction is currently ongoing; any donors will have the option to follow along with our progress and celebrate with us.

UPDATE (2025) A nearby school closed down so we have enrolled many new students, some of them Muslim. Our classrooms are bursting, and we need to begin another block of classrooms to serve them all. Additionally, the government requires us to update our kitchen facilities to a modern standard.

Check out our new sponsorship page which allows you to read individual orphans’ stories, and help support their education.

Adult Opportunities

Sewing

Several years ago, Violet Odindo learned to sew. After developing her skills, she established a large sewing room at the school, employing several local women full-time. Thanks to your donations, the workers can make all the uniforms for Victory Christian School, and they also do business with the local community. Full of vision, Violet recently purchased a commercial embroidery machine and hopes to expand the business even more.

Bakery

In 2022, Violet came across a second-hand commercial dough machine. Always full of hope, she purchased it and set up a small bakery on the Odindo property. Here, bread and rolls are mixed and baked daily. Then, the items are bagged and sent to local shops for sale. This business employs local adults who learn valuable skills.
